CARMINE VERRECCHIA



Carmine Verrecchia immigrated to the United States as a youngster with his parents and brother in 1972 from Genova, Italy, his birthplace. The family arrived in New York aboard the cruise liner Michelangelo in the spring of 1972 and settled in Philadelphia where his mothers’ parents, brothers and sisters resided.

Carmine Verrecchia is a product of the Archdioceses of Philadelphia school system attending Our Lady of Pompeii grade school and Northeast Catholic High School for Boys. He continued his education, being the first in his family to attend and graduate from college, by attending Philadelphia Community College and Temple University, receiving a bachelor degree in accounting.

Carmine’s exposure to wine and winemaking came at an early age when he would spend the summers on his grandparent’s farm in the hills of Molise (Italy)tending to the vineyard along with his grandfather Leonardo. Carmine worked in the Philadelphia restaurant scene for such visionary Philadelphia restaurants as Joe and Claire DiLullo, Antonio “Toto” Schiavone and Eliza Green, while attending college and after graduation.

Upon graduating, he began to practice accounting and building on his restaurant experience, built a practice providing accounting and financial management advisory services to many Philadelphia area restaurants and bars. He also assisted his uncles in the creation of the family’s restaurant Caffe’ Michelangelo in Philadelphia, today managed by his brother Giuliano.

Mr. Verrecchia is a contributing writer to the Home and Towne Magazine, as well as the B2B Food News.

Mr. Verrecchia is the co-host of the weekly radio show Home and Towne a show that focuses on the food and wine scene of Philadelphia and beyond at 1360AM WNJC in the Philadelphia are.

Mr. Verrecchia is a member and past president of the Northeast Sunrisers Rotary Club, a current committee member of the South Jersey March of Dimes, Chapter 2007 Gala “Born ‘to Shine” and a past committee member of the Philadelphia March of Dimes Walk America campaign.

Mr. and Mrs. Verrecchia are ardent believers in giving back to the community and as with any family have encountered personal hardship and losing loved ones to illnesses and such are personally and through Terranova, involved with helping to raise funds for many worthwhile causes including; The Philadelphia police Athletic League, The Boy Scouts, South Jersey Cancer Institute, Philadelphia Art Alliance, Philadelphia Citizens and Youth, the Salesians Sisters of St. John Bosco, Cystic Fibrosis and over twenty worthwhile organizations in the Delaware Valley.

Mr. Carmine Verrecchia and his company regularly hold complementary wine tasting and food events in conjunction with restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia area on an ongoing basis.
